Out of the Ashes

A very fun portfolio shot tackling one of my favorite products… limited-edition microbrews. This particular beer is the second from a limited-edition series called Out of the Ashes by Fort Collins Brewery. This Mesquite Chili Lime Ale “has the familiar sweet and smokey flavor of mesquite combined with the fiery character of chipotle and Pasilla peppers, followed by the fresh tartness of lime.” Therefore, I wanted the shot to convey a smokey, moody feel. I used a custom-made scorched wood background and added smoke rising from the bottle. I had shot several variations, with a frosty bottle, without the lime and pepper, with a glass full of beer next to the bottle… In the end I settled on this final image, though the others could easily be alternated in.

See how I created this image.
