Shooting beer and liquor packaging is one of my favorite things. Intricate designs, unlimited creativity.

Accumulation Ale: Created with nothing more than a six-pack of New Belgium’s Accumulation Ale and bunch of spent bottle caps. A few hours of setup and lighting adjustment, and a few hours of image processing/retouching.

Colette Farmhouse Ale: I couldn’t resist shooting Great Divide’s Colette Farmhouse Ale for the fantastic label design and vibrant colors.

Espolón Tequilas: I really love the bold, unique branding of Espolón, I just had to do a product shot of the bottle. Shown here is an advertising mockup with the bottle composited into a desert plains landscape (photo also by me). Significant attention to detail was paid in getting the composite to look right, including seeing the background through the bottle.

A super fun portfolio shot tackling one of my favorite products… limited-edition microbrews. This particular beer is from a limited-edition series called Out of the Ashes. The Mesquite Chili Lime Ale “has the familiar sweet and smokey flavor of mesquite combined with the fiery character of chipotle and Pasilla peppers, followed by the fresh tartness of lime.” I wanted the shot to convey a smokey, moody feel. I used a custom-made scorched wood background and added smoke rising from the bottle. I had shot several variations, with a frosty bottle, without the lime and pepper, with a glass full of beer next to the bottle… In the end I settled on this final image, though the other variations would have been easy.
