OtterBox Retail Displays

rethinking an aging product display

May 14, 2011

Client: OtterBox
Project: Retail point-of-purchase displays
Involvement: Concept, 3d mockups, collaboration with production vendor

I was tasked to replace OtterBox’s aging and unorginal wire display racks with something that spoke more about the rugged, premium nature of the brand. These are the concepts I came up with and developed into 3D models using Google Sketchup Pro. Once the concepts were approved, I helped collaborate with an outside production vendor in bringing the digital concepts to life. We worked out everything from wood and steel material choices and finishes to magnets used to hold the signage on and the value-engineered rotating base. The cube concept was designed to be a counter-top educational piece that would show the case split in half (matching the split product photography style) and allow the consumer to see the multiple layers of the case and learn about the differences.
